Our Team is a team of travellers, experiencing Bulgaria in every way, devoted to adventures, nature, folklore muzic and dance:-)
We want to share our knowledge of and love for Bulgaria and her nature, history, and people with our guests. Odysseia-In strives to develop Bulgaria as a leading destination for adventure, responsible and eco tourism.
Milestones in our 20-Year History
19.04.1990 Launch; our first guests arrive in Bulgaria on the 29th of June 1990.
1993 Odysseia-In was recommended for the first time in the guidebooks Lonely Planet and Rough Guide.
1997 Start-up of our outdoor shop “STENATA“ in Sofia.
1998 We sponsored the founding of the Bulgarian Association for Alternative Tourismand the Mountains and People Association.
1999 Launch of our daughter company Zig Zag Holidays.
2000 Marcy Huttas helped us find strategic partners in the USA and made us redefine our working principles, values and mission.
2002 We were mentioned as one of the world’s 75 best practice examples, during the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg 2002, and the only ones in Bulgaria to run mountain guide trainings and encourage small businesses in villages.
2003 Foundation of the first Bulgariantraining center for mountain guides – in partnership with the Mountains and People Association; Our Film “Bulgaria One Way” received an award at the Frushka Gora Festival. ; Launch of our publishing house.
2004 First eco project: Reforestation in Pirin Mountains; First project for cultural heritage: Restoration of a medieval monastery in Seslavtzi village.
2005 First edition of our Festival “Days of the Challenges”.
2006 Reforestation in Nature Park Vitosha.
2007 Our second outdoor shop STENATA opens in Sofia.
2008 Third consecutive Annual Award for Corporate Donorship given by the Bulgarian Donors Forum.).
2009 Campaign for the Bulgarian Nature: “6 Euro per Guest”; Eco-Innovator Award of the Pari Newspaper; Founding of the For Eho Association together with other partners (www.ehoto.org)
2010 Financial support for several nature conservation projects and campaigns in places like the national parks Rila and Central Balkan.
